The Tschuggenhütte in the Arosa walking and skiing area, 1991 meters above sea level, is located at the mountain railway to the Weisshorn-peak. In contrast to other restaurants the alpine hut achieves 80 % of its daily turnover at lunchtime since in the evening only few people are walking or skiing in the mountains.
This means that at peak times more than 2,500 meals are served within two hours to the 1,200 seats in the indoor and outdoor area. Problems with the cash register system could possibly lead to the loss of a whole day's turnover. It is therefore not surprising that the low failure rate of Vectron POS systems played an important role when the decision for purchase was made.
In order to manage the run, the indoor restaurant of the Tschuggenhütte is equipped with a POS ColorTouch, two Vectron-Hartek dispensing systems and two coffee machines. The outdoor area of approx. 160 square meters is equipped with two POS Mini and two 9-module dispensing towers of the Cascade3 that was recently introduced to the market. Connected to the Cascade3 are a coffee machine and an automat for glühwein. The "Saustall" is a bar with 15 tables, which is also responsible for the service of 250 deckchairs outside. Here they use the Vectron POS Mobile. The Tschuggenhütte was one of the first customers to apply Vectron's mobile cash register system and - despite some teething troubles in the beginning - they are very satisfied with the POS Mobile.
The Tschuggenhütte is just one of several properties under the management of the Arosa Mountain Railway. The Weißhorn alpine hut has already ordered three POS ColorTouch and two Cascade3 dispensing towers with 9 modules and in October, the Brüggerstuba will equip its indoor and outdoor area with Vectron and Vectron-Hartek systems.
