The "Dream-Bowl" is a bowling- and leisure center in Fellbach. In peak times, up to 600 guests are served on 18 bowling alleys, 200 restaurant seats, 150 bistro seats, at the gaming machines and billiard tables. The "Dream-Bowl" is so busy then that the waiters can hardly note down all orders. In October 2001 manager Werner Knöbl therefore decided to introduce Vectron dispensing- and POS systems. "I can't control the dispensing if I do not spend several hours per day with controlling my goods", says Knöbl. With the application of Cascade2-dispensing systems in a second bowling-center in Böblingen he had already made good experiences with Vectron-Hartek.
Werner Knöbl had developed a good concept for the introduction. The project was to take place in two phases. During the pilot phase, specialist dealer Wössner-Kassensysteme from Freudenstadt installed two Cascade3-dispensing racks, two POS32 and two POS Mobile in the "Dream-Bowl". In a second phase the system was to be expanded. Yet, unforeseeable problems occurred during the pilot phase: ECRs or dispensing system crashed, sometimes even the whole system broke down. This resulted in turnover losses and an increased maintenance work. At that point a close cooperation of all parties was required. Vectron removed errors as soon as possible and could rely to a high degree on specific hints given by Werner Knöbl and the experience of Wössner-Kassensysteme: "Such a project requires profound knowledge, not only concerning the functions of POS- and dispensing systems, but also in the field of beverage-, cooling- und materials handling technology." knows Mr. Wössner, "The personal commitment must not be underestimated."

After some weeks considerable progress became visible: the system ran stable, occasional failures could quickly be removed by simply switching the system off and on. "All in all I am glad that I can now rely on a fully automatic Vectron POS- and dispensing system for my daily work" Knöbl is pleased. "The very flexible reporting of the Vectron Commander supports my daily business with reports, which are perfectly suitable for the registration of sales as well as for various statistics."
Werner Knöbl has shown patience and staying power and kept faith with Vectron: in summer 2002 the installation comprised six 7-unit dispensing racks of Cascade3, one Bremer coffee machine, three POS 32, seven POS Mobile-Terminals with three base stations and the Vectron Commander with dial-up maintenance VPOS Anywhere. Meanwhile, the project is a stable and powerful system. POS- and dispensing installations run reliably even under full load.
Those who buy the Cascade3 today can rely on perfect and stable dispensing control technique of Vectron-Hartek, thanks to the common commitment of Werner Knöbl, Wössner-Kassensysteme and Vectron. Additional safety and reduction of costs offers the software-extension POS Anywhere of the Vectron Commander, which allows maintenance and error recovery per remote data transmission.
