ECR Network

Where more than one cash register is applied, an ECR network increases the possibilities of applications and the efficiency of the whole installation. Vectron POS systems are consistently designed for a practically oriented, technically stable and inexpensive networking.

The advantages of the network are threefold convincing.

First, networked ECRs exchange information during operation. Payment transactions that were started at one cash register can be continued and finalized at other ECRs in the network by means of clerk- and guest check floating. Reports must no longer be made for every single ECR but can be called centrally, as single or consolidated reports.

Second, networked POS systems share practically all peripherals. Printers or dispensing systems are connected to one cash register, yet can be addressed by all others in the network. This reduces the investment costs. If for instance several printers for kitchen and counter are installed, the failure rate is lowered. If one printer fails, all orders are transferred to a defined backup printer, even if the latter is connected to another cash register.

Third, an ECR network offers the optimum prerequisite for the connection of a branch shop to a central PC. Only one single cash register is equipped with a modem. Via this ECR, all others in the network are called from a remote PC and are read out and loaded with new data. For further details see the pages on PC-connection.

Easy networking.

Vectron's intelligent POS systems are designed to be networked via a commercial 10BaseT-network. From autumn 2003 on, 100BaseT-networks will also be supported. The easiest case would be 2 ECRs connected via cross-over cable. 3 ECRs or more require a network hub and one cable each from ECR to hub. The spreading of 10BaseT as PC network does not only reduce the costs it also means that you can use your network twice: Vectron POS systems are tailored to ensure a smooth link in with existing PC-networks. PCs and POS systems communicate without disturbing each other. Vectron POS systems support all usual 10BaseT-network structures via routers or cascaded hubs. This guarantees flexibility.
